I removed the clamps from the stem piece, trimmed the overhanging wood strip, and sanded everything clean and smooth, completing the construction process.
After a final test-fitting, I applied a sealer coat of varnish to all surfaces. Late in the day, I applied a second coat, and also continued the varnish work on the engine instrument panel surround.
