Waanderlust Project | Friday, July 9, 2010

I continued the deck sheathing and fairing projects in the usual way:  wash and sand, clean up, and move on to the next steps.  While I was at it, I prepared a few of the larger holes in the cockpit well for eventual patching and fairing by sanding a tapered area into the fiberglass around the exiting holes.  I'd soon be turning my efforts towards the cockpit and other areas.

After cleaning up, I applied a thin coat of fairing compound to all the newly-resheathed areas of the coachroof and cabin trunk, filling the weave of the cloth and the small gaps between the two sections of fabric, then extending down to the cabin trunk sides and adjacent deck areas.

I wrapped up the day with another round of fairing compound on the poop deck.
