Summer Song | Tuesday, November 29, 2011

I had an appointment away from the shop during the morning, but upon my return I decided to focus on preparing for and applying the first cost of varnish to the brightwork; since I didn't know how long a coat would take, and wanted to be sure to get the process started, I spent only a little time on some hardware-related tasks first, beginning by organizing the hardware along with the new fasteners required for each piece.

Later, I installed the bronze instrument bezels and compass, which were simple installations but got the process underway.  I'd work on installing the remaining deck hardware over the next several days.

To round out the afternoon, I applied the first sealer coat of varnish to all the brightwork.  I'd continue with a coat a day until I had the buildup desired.
