Kaholee Refit | February 13, 2007

There wasn't a whole lot I could do to the boat today, with the very fresh paint still reaching its initial cure stage (requiring about 36 hours for a tape-safe cure stage), but I began with cleaning up from the past weeks' painting projects, stowing the spray equipment, hoses, and paint and returning the shop to a more normal stage of operation.

A bit later in the morning, I continued by dismantling the plastic overspray sheathing that I had wrapped around the hull, as well as over parts of the trailer and other things in the shop.   Then I cleaned up the whole shop, which wasn't really related to Kaholee, but it was a good opportunity nonetheless.

Late in the afternoon, I removed most of the masking tape and paper from the deck areas, remaining on the staging for the moment.  Though the deck lacked the necessary contrast normally provided by the nonskid paint, the boat looked much prettier with the ugly harvest gold paper removed, and the ports reopened.

Finally, I mixed up a custom nonskid color for the job, using Interlux Interdeck with 2 parts white and one part gray to lighten the industrial tones of the stock Interlux gray, and painted a small sample for approval by the owner.  (Thanks, Windrose, for the color recipe.)
