Ensign #1212 | Thursday, June 12, 2014

I spent the morning sanding the seat slats and coamings with the final grits, 120 - 220, to prepare them for refinishing.

Afterwards, I vacuumed and solvent washed all the bare wood, and laid things out to prepare for the first coat of varnish.  With damp atmospheric conditions, the solvent would take a while to evaporate from the vintage wood (in fact, after two hours it still hadn't completely dried in places), so I moved on to another project in the meantime.
