Circe
| Saturday, March 13, 2010 I spent the morning cutting and fitting the remaining pieces of the ceiling: the smaller, custom-cut sections required to fill in the short areas at the ends. Although I was out of the proper screws to fasten the slats, I chose to press on and use different screws for now, just to finish the ceiling work since I was on a roll and anxious to complete the long-awaited ceiling. Later, I'd switch out the screws, which would be a simple and quick job by comparison. When I had all the slats in place, I cut and installed trim as needed over some of the edges, and applied more tung oil to the completed ceiling; I'd continue adding coats of tung oil over the next several days to build up the finish. |
With the ceiling complete, I sanded and varnished the interior companionway trim and swashboards to keep that process moving along. |
