Friday, October 19, 2012 With only a short time available following a morning appointment, it seemed a good opportunity to do some work on the settee backrest locker doors, which would eventually double as back cushions for the seating areas. To begin, I used the plywood cutouts leftover from creating the openings in the panels earlier, and trimmed all four edges back 1/2". Then, I installed 1/2" square solid cherry stock around the perimeter of the plywood hatches, bringing their dimensions back to the original size while hiding the plywood edge grain. I repeated this for all seven doors. |
These panels would eventually form the basis for the upholstered back cushions. Later, I'd hinge these panels, which would install flush in the openings, and install a separate panel upon which the upholstered back cushion would be built. |
