Before moving on to the next stage of the deck recore--the cockpit--it was time to finish removing the paint from the other deck areas.  Most of the starboard side, including the cabin trunk, was still covered with layers of paint, plus additional areas around the perimeter of the cockpit and around the stern.

I worked my way around the boat, removing the paint as needed.  As elsewhere, the process was slow, but the old coatings slowly succumbed.  The numerous layers of paint, particularly in certain areas like the winch islands, resembled stucco in texture and thickness, with the bottommost coats almost rubbery.  All in all, it was a real mess, but finally all the old paint was gone.

Including sanding the new sidedecks and foredeck, as well as removing all the underlying gelcoat along the gunwales (as I'd done elsewhere), the process consumed the entire day.  Fortunately, our stretch of amazingly unseasonable warmth continued, allowing me to keep the door open and enjoy the unusually fine weather while sanding.
