After sanding smooth the various areas where I'd most recently applied fairing compound, it was time to sand all the deck areas through several more grits, towards the goal of final finish sanding required before high-build primer.  With all the major repair work complete, and only a few details still on the to-do list, the additional rounds of sanding would help highlight any areas requiring more attention, and also bring the entire deck closer to the end of this stage.

So over the course of the day, I sanded the deck and coachroof four additional times, ending with 120 grit on a random orbit finish sander.  This process smoothed all areas and mitigated sander marks from the previous round.  I left the cockpit for another time, as there was additional detail and corner work to complete there.

In the near future I'd use a fine fairing compound to fill any pinholes in the bulk fairing or original gelcoat/laminate, fill remaining nonskid pattern, and otherwise fine-tune the surface as needed, but for the moment there were still a few low areas requiring an additional coat of fairing compound, which I applied at the end of the day.  I also temporarily filled in the remaining cockpit scupper openings in the cockpit sole so I could redrill and reshape them for the new drain fittings.
