| Tuesday, February 2, 2010 Preparing for the final installation of the pulpits and stanchions, I drilled and tapped all the epoxy-filled fastener locations for 1/4-20 machine screws, and milled small countersinks in the top of each hole. I didn't have enough sealant immediately on hand to complete all the installations--sealant was on order and due in an afternoon delivery--but I had enough to bed all six stanchion bases, which I completed right away. |
I wiped down the interior overhead in all areas, and applied a coat of single-part primer to begin the painting process. |
By the time the priming was complete, my delivery had arrived, and armed with fresh sealant I installed the bow pulpit. |
I knew I'd not enough time in the day to complete the stern pulpit installation now, so I elected to clean up all the sealant from the stanchions and bow pulpit installations, after which I set the six stanchion tubes in place. In the morning, I'd complete the stern pulpit installation. |
