Bolero Project | Monday, February 25, 2008

After a couple busy months working on another project, I got ready today to begin work again on Bolero in the near future.  With a few other loose ends to tie up, I limited my work today to moving the boat into the main work bay, where she'd remain for the remainder of the project, and re-leveled the boat according to the notes and measurements I'd made earlier.

Variations in the floor geography from bay to bay meant that I had to modify the measurements a bit in order to level the boat; the key figure that I found for leveling the boat came from a detailed lines drawing of the boat, which indicated a 6-5/8" difference in height between the stem and transom from the DWL.  By adjusting the trailer till the delta between measurements from floor to transom and floor to stem equaled 6-5/8", whatever the actual measurements, I could ensure that the boat was level according to her DWL (which, in this case, does not translate to level according to the painted waterline).  I also covered this process back on November 19.

In any event, once I got the boat leveled, I set up staging around the boat for the work ahead.
