I got started with the new propeller shaft, and completed the installation.  After inserting the shaft, I installed the new coupling and tested the fit and alignment with the engine.  The alignment was nearly right on from the start, requiring only minor tweaks.



Satisfied with the alignment, I permanently installed the shaft coupling with the supplied plastic sacrificial coupling.  After I took these photos, I added mousing wire to the coupling setscrews.

         


Afterwards, I installed the new three-bladed prop.

    

In the head and main cabin, I reinstalled the head pump, then installed the now-painted shelf and support wth bolts.


Before beginning the cork work in the main cabin, I installed the overhead handrails with their new backing strips that I'd made earlier.

    

    

Taking care of some additional odds and ends, I installed a hold-down ratchet strap and terminal covers on the starting battery, completing its installation. (strap is barely visible in this photo)


Turning my attention briefly to the mast, I installed a 1" rail base fitting to act as a wire chase for the mast wiring, so that they could be led to an existing fitting in the deck enclosed in an exposed hose.


I spent most of the remaining late afternoon working on the cork installation--or at least the initial steps.  I began with a paper pattern of the starboard aft overhead, and transferred the shape to sheets of cork. Getting the fit just so around the various obstructions, and against the neighboring section of cork on the aft bulkhead.  By the time I got the fitting complete, it was too late to apply the contact cement, so I left installation for next time. I hoped that once I got out of this after cabin area the process would speed up a bit, by virtue of increased competence of the installer and simpler, cleaner surfaces to cover.

The cut cork is held in place by friction or tape in the photo below, and I purposefully left the edges run long for later trimming around the companionway.
