Aphelion Refit | July 16, 2007

This morning, I lightly sanded the cove stripe and boottop, cleaned and tacked them, and then applied the second coat of white paint.  The second coat covered well, and completed the job.

Later in the day, I removed the masking tape and paper.  Please ignore the blue portion that's visible beneath some of the boottop; that represents my earlier tape line that I applied before primer, and has nothing to do with anything, nor is it any sort of straight or reasonable reference for the actual position of the new boottop and waterline.

Soon, I'll sand off the blue paint beneath the boottop and cover it with new bottom paint, but for now you'll have to squint by it and concentrate on the new white line while ignoring the uneven blue portions beneath.  This disrupts my sense of order and I can't wait to cover it up.  Bear with me while I wait for the new boottop to cure enough so that I can tape it and paint beneath.
