The new wood in the head compartment required an additional coat of enamel, so I sanded the areas lightly and applied a third coat.

After final preparations, I applied primer to the remaining areas of the quarterberth and associated hull liner.

In the cockpit, I built and oversized plywood mockup of the port cockpit coaming, using leftover template plywood.  To begin, I made some reference marks on the fiberglass cockpit edge to demark the lower edge of the coaming, about 1-1/2" above the level of the cockpit seats.

Working from each end to fine-tune the critical end cuts and to help locate the cutout in the center for the storage pocket in the winch islands, I temporarily secured the extra tall mockup to the boat and the two halves to each other, then made some tentative marks with a batten to determine the top shape of the coaming.

Later, with the mockup on the bench, I used a long batten to fine-tune the shape.  I had to depart for a meeting, but after reviewing photos of the original coamings, I planned more adjustment before cutting and test-fitting the template, as I wasn't yet satisfied with the curve or its smoothness.
