Snow Lily | Saturday-Sunday, April 20-21, 2013

Over the weekend, I continued with some of the smaller ongoing tasks, including finishing up the varnish work on the door frame for the woodstove cabinet, and the compass back cover.

When I installed the base for the woodstove deck iron, I'd already applied three coats of varnish to the teak.  I balanced the desire to completely pre-finish the teak with the requirement to install the fitting as soon as possible and before the boat had to move out of the shop, so this meant that I'd finish up the varnish work after installation.  To that end, I masked around the base and applied another coat of varnish.

Meanwhile, I cleaned up the cockpit wiring back piece I'd made and painted the outer surfaces.

Later in the weekend, I continued work, and installed the compass back cover with screws driven through the sides into the bulkhead behind.

To secure the fiberglass wiring cover in the cockpit locker, I installed Velcro strips on the top and side of the throttle enclosure, and pressed the cover into place.

I installed some base trim, which I'd prefinished, to the woodstove cabinet.

I made up the cable ends and completed the centerboard lifting system with all components in place, if temporarily.

Meanwhile, I soaked caning and installed it in the door frame for the woodstove cabinet.

Finally, I applied another coat of varnish to the deck iron teak trim.
