The cockpit grate required a couple interim supports beneath the slats to allow them to support weight without bending.  To that end, I cut and installed the supports as needed:  one in the center of the forward grate, one in the center of the after grate, and two short sections further aft in the grate.  I secured these in place with stainless brads from the underside, since they just needed to be held in place lightly.

With the grate all but complete, other than bunging the screw holes, I permanently installed the mahogany rudder post cover in the cockpit.  In the cockpit,  installed two pair of teak cleats with machine screws and sealant, then screwed the cosmetic cover to these cleats.  The mahogany cover would be removable for varnish maintenance in the future.

One last rigging job on the to-do list was to install the brackets for a new rigid boom vang, which had arrived earlier in the week.  Because I was worried about clearance with the mast step design, and with the halyard turning blocks already mounted on the mast, I chose to install the mast bracket just above the turning blocks instead of beneath.

With the mast bracket installed, I could determine the location of the boom bracket, and install it as well.
