I washed and sanded the new fiberglass on the chainplate knees, wrapping up that project.  I also hand-sanded the final coat of filler on the toerails and fillets; any final detail work here would take place after the high-build surfacing primer had been applied.

I re-opened the chainplate slots, which I'd covered from within with the new fiberglass, and test-fit the chainplates with the new knees.  I clamped the chainplates in the proper position so that I could mark and drill the boltholes, which I'd do when I removed the nearby bulkheads to take advantage of the additional clearance at that time.

    

    
I repositioned the staging to hull height, and inspected the topsides for any areas that would require grinding and filling.  The topsides were in remarkably good condition, and I found only a few areas where I had to lightly grind away small spider cracks or old filler.  Then, I filled these areas with the fine fairing compound.


         

Not being able to arrange a timely delivery of plywood for the new structural bulkhead, and with the bulkheads' replacement taking center stage in my upcoming week's plans, I elected to travel to the supplier to pick up what I needed and thus enable me to complete this important structural job.  I purchased enough 18mm marine Meranti plywood for the job and planned to begin this project forthwith so that I'd be ready to begin the new cockpit work shortly thereafter, pending final approval of the concept and details.
