I spent the morning removing all the masking from the deck areas, port openings, and hatches.

I needed to give the fresh deck paint some time before I could overtape and move on with any painting task (I planned to do the nonskid next), so I used the forced down time to start working on the deck hardware, most of which was still gunked up with old sealant that needed to be removed.  This shows a typical situation on the left, and after cleanup on the right.

I worked my way through a pile of hardware, including the stanchion bases, which needed some additional work since the owner had indicated that the original set screws were failing, loose, and ineffective.  To deal with this, I tapped the set screw holes for the next-larger size, which would ensure a good fit and security for some time to come.  In the meantime, I collated the various fastener types and sizes required for the hardware so I could check stock on hand or order new fasteners as needed.  I'd continue cleaning up the hardware and ports in the coming days as time allowed.
