Waanderlust Project--Phase III | Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Once more, I sanded and prepared the galley areas and eyebrow trim for their respective next coats of white paint and varnish, which I applied later in the work day.

In the meantime, I made various measurements around the galley so I could begin to mill the pieces required for the cabinetry corners, countertop fiddles, and other incidental trim.  With the measurements in hand, I milled a number of trim blanks from mahogany, and sanded them smooth.

For the corner trim, I had to make a 90° glueup from two pieces of wood, which I clamped together on the bench and left to cure overnight.  I'd be able to continue milling the trim profile in the morning.

After solvent-washing the new trim pieces and companionway ladder, I applied a sealer coat of varnish to all pieces.
