Things were ready for the hardware installation in the stern of the boat, so I continued the process, first drilling and tapping the bolt holes for the stern pulpit and cleats.


    


I installed the pulpit and cleats with heavy beads of sealant, securing the hardware through the tapped holes before proceeding belowdecks to install backing plates, nuts, and washers.  Access, particularly on the port side, was challenging, but eventually I completed the installations.

         

         

         

    

Using long screws, I secured the stern chocks to the taffrail in their chosen spots, using sealant beneath the chocks and in the screw holes.

    

After fighting the access in the stern quarters, it was a relative pleasure to install the new primary sheet winches.



         

Later, I sanded the interior paint, then applied a second coat to all areas.

         

         

One of the jobs coming up soon with regards to the electric propulsion system was to extend the shaft log where it exited the keel, in order to provide sufficient clearance for the propeller beneath the hull.   Exactly how far I'd have to extend the shaft, and how to proceed, depended on the propeller itself, so I was pleased to find the new propeller in the day's shipments.  This Acme 12.5" diameter propeller was specifically matched to the requirements of the electric motor.

Unpacking the prop, I used a wooden dowel as a shaft stand-in temporarily so I could get some sense of where the prop would need to end up to allow a couple inches' clearance between the blade tips and the hull.  Fortunately, the extension would not be as extreme as I'd feared, and the job would be easily handled by a glassed-in extension.  to that end, I ordered various materials I'd need for the job, so I could take care of it soon.

    

Finally, during the day I applied several coats of Alexseal snow white topcoat to the stanchion base wedges.
