I finished up the bulk sanding in the head compartment, removing paint from the overhead liner and a narrow centerline bulkhead.

Next, I sanded away the layers of paint from the lower V-berth structure and bulkheads, as I'd done in other areas earlier.  There were areas remaining where the sander couldn't reach, but I'd get back to those during a later stage of interior prep, with different tools and different goals.

Continuing aft, I lightly sanded the overhead liner--which ended at the aft end of the passageway--and removed the paint from the head bulkhead and hanging locker area.  As with most of the plywood in the boat, these surfaces were paper-faced plywood, and in general the paint was easy to remove, though its thickness (multiple coats) required a bit of time to chew through.

Curious, I took a couple quick minutes to lightly sand the small starboard teak-faced bulkhead in the saloon, just to see what it might look like without dirt and staining.  I doubted these surfaces would be exposed in the new cabin, as there were numerous holes from old fasteners and probably wouldn't fit in with the new style--and the teak didn't look so great anyway.

I spent the remainder of the morning working on the port hull area outboard of the saloon.  I removed remaining high edges left over from the core boundaries, and sanded the entire area as needed to remove old core and resin from the hull, prepare adjacent surfaces for repair and new material, and generally prep the surfaces for whatever lay ahead.  This included the area within the nav station base, in way of the old engine exhaust.    At the same time, I prepared for eventual patching the area around the 2" test hole I'd drilled earlier.

To round out the morning's work, I removed the paint from most of the port settee top, except the removable hatch.  I cleaned up the worst of the detritus from the day's efforts and called it a day, as I had an appointment in the afternoon.
