In the morning, I finished up sanding the hull-deck joint on the starboard side and transom.

My next focus was the various fastener holes on deck.  I worked my way around the deck opening up the smaller fastener holes with a large countersink to give more area for epoxy filler, including all the old holes along the gunwale.  In other areas, I used a small grinding disc to bevel out larger areas over some of the larger holes, and also to remove a few areas where the gelcoat had cracked and become loose.  As needed, I cleaned out remnants of sealant and other gook from inside the holes, using a small drill bit to pull the material out.

There were several old through hull fitting holes to repair as well.  For each, I cleaned out any old sealant remaining in the hole, then cleaned the area and masked over from the outside, before filling the holes with thickened epoxy--the first step in the patching process.
