The first order of business this morning was to sand the starboard toerail to remove the white paint.  I finished this in under two hours, and moved on to the cockpit, where I washed and sanded yesterday's epoxy fill patches on the old cockpit locker openings and icebox hatch.  The locker openings were now fair with their surroundings and would not require any more significant fill, while the icebox hatch was still low and needed another application of filler.

Before I got to that, however, I sanded the cockpit well, decks, and seats, as well as adjacent areas, with 80 grit and 120 grit on my finishing sander, repeating the process I began yesterday on the other portions of the deck.  Changing sanding machines represents a big step in the preparation process, as I shifted the focus from coarse work to the more delicate finish work required in order to obtain a good paint finish on the decks.

I had other commitments in the afternoon, so I finished up rather early and applied what I hoped and expected to be the final coat of fairing filler over the icebox hatch.  I also filled a few minor areas on the toerails that needed attention, such as the fasteners holes from the bow chocks and two screw holes left over from some long-removed something or other on the starboard side, but I intended to leave most of the previously-existing repairs alone.

Next:  fine fairing filler application and sealing the fairing compound.  Then, with some more sanding, it'll be on to primer before you know it.  Things are very much on track.
