Sure enough, after a brief consultation the owner decided that we had to relocate the Porta-Potty.  The only other location that seemed to make sense--and it made good sense--was at the aft end of the cabin, just forward of the bulkhead.

Although it still wouldn't be possible to hide the unit beneath the berth height, in the after location it'd be possible to build a cover/box around it, which would also serve purpose (most likely) as a step, table, arm rest, and so forth.  In any event, to quickly illustrate how the unit fit in the proposed new location, I took the following photos.  More to come on this topic in the near future.

Later in the day, I applied a coat of varnish to the cabin trunk and bulkhead inside and out, mainly as a sealer coat for protection as construction continued.
