Now that the Corecell basis was in place in the cockpit, I spent the morning preparing the area for fiberglass, and cutting several layers of material to size to fill and cover the voids left by removing the old molded air tanks.  I cut two layers of 1708 fiberglass to fit inside the bounds of the cutout, and overlapping down onto the new section of the sole, and a third layer to overlap the tapered edges that I'd ground during removal of the tanks some time ago.  I thought this would bring up the level of the new area roughly even with the surrounding areas, as well as providing sufficient thickness and strength to the small area of the cockpit sole.

I added a fillet to the outer edge of the Corecell where it met the hull, to fill the gap there and provide a smooth transition for the fiberglass.  While I waited for the fillet to cure past the initial stage, I prepared the additional materials required for the fiberglass installation, and took care of a few other things.

At this time, I also installed the epoxied plywood "bulkheads" in the spaces at the forward end of the new cockpit.  I slathered the edges with thickened epoxy and pressed the bulkheads into place, then smoothed and filled the remaining gaps with the epoxy.

Presently, I got to to work on the fiberglassing.  Over a period of a couple hours, I installed the three layers on each side and left it to cure.  I look

I finished up the day by sanding Monday's application Alexseal fairing compound on the deck.
